JPG to WebP and PNG to WebP are the quickest way to speed up a website. WebP to JPG is useful when an app or printer does not accept WebP. PNG to JPG shrinks large screenshots. Transparent areas turn white when converting to JPG, because JPG cannot store transparency.

What about HEIC photos from iPhone?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Safari can open HEIC files, so on a Mac or iPhone you can convert HEIC to JPG with this tool. Chrome and Firefox on Windows cannot decode HEIC yet. As an alternative, set your iPhone camera to “Most Compatible” under Settings → Camera → Formats, and new photos will be saved as JPG.

Quality setting
The quality slider applies to JPG and WebP. 85–92% is visually lossless for most photos. PNG is always lossless, so the slider has no effect when converting to PNG.
