Why convert JPG to PNG?

JPG is a lossy format: every time a JPG is edited and saved again, it loses a little more detail. PNG is lossless, so it keeps every pixel exactly as it is. Converting to PNG is useful when you want to:

• Edit an image several times without adding new compression artefacts.
• Add transparency later, for example to cut out a logo or product in a design app.
• Upload to a site or app that only accepts PNG, such as some icon, sticker and print services.
• Keep text and sharp lines crisp in screenshots, diagrams and scanned documents.

Will the PNG look better than the JPG?

Converting does not restore detail that JPG compression already removed, so the PNG will look the same as your original. What it does is stop any further quality loss from this point on. Expect the PNG file to be larger than the JPG, often two to five times, because PNG stores the image without lossy compression.

Is it safe?

Yes. Unlike most online converters, this tool never uploads your images. Your browser reads the file, draws it on a canvas and saves it as PNG, all on your own computer or phone. That makes it private and very fast, even with large batches.
